All retro games fans should be happy as LucasArts finally adapted well-liked Monkey Island 2 for iPad and, believe me, you will like it. If you never heard about Monkey Island, we will tell you a little:
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge is an adventure game released 19 years ago (in 1991). It was the second game of the Monkey Island series, The Secret of Monkey Island was the first. Main protagonist is Guybrush Threepwood eager to become a pirate. Little is known of what happened between Guybrush Threepwood and Elaine Marley, his beloved woman, after defeating ghost pirate LeChuck in the first Monkey Island. The sequel involves Guybrush’s attempts not only to find the legendary treasure, Big Whoop, but also to bring back Elaine’s love.
Of course, game graphics is improved (now it’s HD graphics) compared to 1991 and the result impresses, especially when you run the PC version next to the iPad. The game features a wonderful voice cast. Those who played the original version back in 1991, remember its “non-linear” aspect and long shelf life, well, the iPad version is just as thrilling and unputdownable. As it is improved (redrawn and its sound is rerecorded), it can’s be passed by.
